The ScanBet system, developed by The Document Management Group made it’s debut at the 2005 Betting Show . The system provides extra security for bookmakers as it digitally records every single bet placed at every betting shop within a chain and allows them to be scrutinised at head office.
Historically, betting shops have used the process of, microfilming the betting slips onto rolls of film, then sending the film off to be developed, which in itself can cause additional security problems and delay. ScanBet uses digital technology and eliminates any time delay by taking out the processing time of film.
Once a bet has been scanned in by a cashier, a process which takes just seconds, the information is automatically transferred electronically to the head office, making it easier for security personnel to ensure no fraud is being perpetrated against the company. The information is also backed up on computers located at each individual shop.
